Based in the \u201cCode of Conduct for Trustees\u201d by the Charity Trustee Networks<\/i><\/p>\n

It is the responsibility of management committee members and trustees to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Act within the governing document and the law \u2013 being aware of the contents of the BSANA\u2019s constitution and the law as it applies to BSANA.<\/li>\n
  2. Act in the best interest of BSANA and the BSANA neighbourhood as a whole \u2013 considering what is best for BSANA and its beneficiaries and avoiding bringing BSANA into disrepute.<\/li>\n
  3. Manage conflicts of interest effectively \u2013 registering, declaring and resolving conflicts of interest. Not gaining materially or financially unless specifically authorised to do so (for example being paid as an employee).<\/li>\n
  4. Respect confidentiality \u2013 understanding what confidentiality means in practice for BSANA and the individuals involved with it.<\/li>\n
  5. Have a sound and up-to-date knowledge of BSANA and its environment \u2013 understanding how BSANA works and the environment within which it operates.<\/li>\n
  6. Attend meetings and other appointments or give apologies \u2013 considering other ways of engaging with the organisation if regularly unable to attend trustee meetings.<\/li>\n
  7. Prepare fully for meetings and all work for BSANA \u2013 reading papers, querying anything you don\u2019t understand and thinking through issues in good time before meetings. Also addressing actions assigned to you from meetings in a timely manner.<\/li>\n
  8. Actively engage in discussion, debate and voting in meetings \u2013 contributing positively, listening carefully, challenging sensitively and avoiding conflict.<\/li>\n
  9. Act jointly and accept a majority decision \u2013 making decisions collectively, standing by them and not acting individually unless specifically authorised to do so.<\/li>\n
  10. Work considerately and respectfully with all \u2013 respecting diversity, different roles and boundaries, and avoiding giving offence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Trustees are expected to honour the content and spirit of this code.<\/p>\n
