Tai Chi
Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm.
Venue: Walford Hall, Carey Street
See venue on map (opens in new window)Bangasumnida: Greetings!
New Tai Chi classes are every other week.
Body & Brain Yoga and Ki Gong is rooted in Korean Taoist tradition which develops the full potential of the brain, eliminates stress, and revitalises the body. Through physical training we release deep tensions, strengthen and detox the body, and develop flexibility. This allows our bodies and minds to become happy, healthy and peaceful. The classes are focussed in Yoga, Ki Gong, Meditation and Vibration and combine East Asian healing and energy philosophies.
These classes are for young and old, the able and the not so able. The aim is not to become super fit, or to gain the perfect physique but to simply focus on what is really important: your health.
We are hoping to host these classes on a long-term basis, but we’ll need a good attendance to keep them running. So get excited and bring a friend!
For BSANA residents, we are reducing the £8 per class to just £3!
Be quick and register by emailing BSANA at taichi@bsana.org
Clothing: comfortable, come as you are!
We look forward to seeing you there!

See venue on map (opens in new window)We very excited about this idea. We are starting a new Supper Club in the Baker Street Area and everyone is welcome to join! The idea is very simple, every couple of months our friends and neighbours Laura & Josep from Pop-up Reading will be designing a menu based on one of our resident’s life experience, they will let us know the theme but final dishes will remain secret, so you will get to discover flavours and your fellow neighbours at the same time.
To show you how it will work they are starting with themselves as guinea pigs with a menu called Abruzzo to Veneto, which tells the story Laura’s Italian roots.

In this workshop, you will use willow and tissue paper to create a lantern. Refreshments provided by Pop-Up Reading.
After the workshop you will be invited to parade on a short walk from Jacksons through the town which takes place on Saturday 3 December at 5pm leading Santa back to his bus.
Jelly is an energetic charity championing the creative arts. We have played a strategic role in Reading’s cultural life since 1993 – enabling art to appear in unexpected places and creating opportunities for people to look on and join in. We believe in the power of the arts to delight, intrigue, challenge and enrich, and we’re committed to forming creative alliances and partnerships that encourage art and cultural life to flourish.

Anstey Road Bin MeetingAdd to CalendarWednesday, 2 December 2015
Anstey Road Bin Meeting
Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm.
Venue: Salvation Army, Anstey Road, RG1 7JR
See venue on map (opens in new window)Bins – we all hate them. They’re smelly, block our pavements and they’re ugly, making home a less nice place to come home to. Anstey Road had a bin problem worse than most. With no front gardens to speak of, there were over 80 grey and red bins cluttering the pavement! Wanting to improve things for our residents, BSANA and Reading Borough Council developed the first collective street bin trial in town for the residents there. It’s had its ups and downs, but the overall reaction to the idea at least has been positive.
Our hope has been to have a successful enough programme so that other streets plagued with “ bin blight” can benefit too.
Finally it is the time to have your say! Wednesday, 2nd December from
6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army on Anstey Road, Reading Borough
Council will be having an official Consultation on the programme to
collect feed-back on what has worked and what hasn’t. The Lead
Councillor for Neighbourhoods, Councillor Liz Terry along with our Abbey
Ward Councillors, the Street Care Team and BSANA will all be there to
hear your thoughts. We’ll also be discussing the “rat issue” at that time
as it relates to this programme especially and update the street on what
is happening.
Anstey Road residents are especially encouraged to come out for this,
but if you want to learn more – or hear the update on the rat situation in the area, too, please do join.
Reading Borough Council and BSANA are really interested in your feedback!
Alternatively, you can send your feedback to bins@bsana.org.

See venue on map (opens in new window)This is the big one. We close off Baker Street, from Carey Street/Zinzan Street along to Howard Street/Body Road and have a party. Please bring along some food for us all to share. We will provide (soft) drinks, cutlery and crockery. There will be chairs and tables so you can eat your food, chat to your neighbours and enjoy the sunshine. There will also be activities such as live music, Zumba, bouncy castles, swingball, the regular BSANA quiz and, all new this year, a crazy golf course! Opens at Noon, but you are welcome to come any time from 10am and help us set everything up.
