It will be led by Richard Bennett (Chair Reading Civic Society) & myself. and will cover Russell Street/Castle Hill and the Downshire Square CAs and we will also go out along the Bath Road to the site of the former Bath Road Reservoir.
We will explain how the area has developed since the early 1820s and tell you about the people who have lived here and influenced the area. As well as the important heritage and positive features of the area we will show you some of the negative features and the challenges the areas faces.
Whilst there is no charge for these walks we do seek voluntary donations of a minimum of £5 per adult and £2 per child which will go to my charities for this year.:-
1st is Age UK Berkshire is an independent local charity part of the Age UK Brand. They provide integrated health and wellbeing services for older people across Berkshire. They believe that everyone can love later life – They do this by inspiring, supporting and enabling in a number of ways. See – https://www.ageuk.org.uk/berkshire/about-us/

New Tai Chi classes are every other week.
Body & Brain Yoga and Ki Gong is rooted in Korean Taoist tradition which develops the full potential of the brain, eliminates stress, and revitalises the body. Through physical training we release deep tensions, strengthen and detox the body, and develop flexibility. This allows our bodies and minds to become happy, healthy and peaceful. The classes are focussed in Yoga, Ki Gong, Meditation and Vibration and combine East Asian healing and energy philosophies.
These classes are for young and old, the able and the not so able. The aim is not to become super fit, or to gain the perfect physique but to simply focus on what is really important: your health.
We are hoping to host these classes on a long-term basis, but we’ll need a good attendance to keep them running. So get excited and bring a friend!
For BSANA residents, we are reducing the £8 per class to just £3!

Tai Chi See venue on map (opens in new window)Thursday, 25 May 2017
Tai Chi
Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm.
Venue: Walford Hall, Carey Street
Bangasumnida: Greetings!
Be quick and register by emailing BSANA at taichi@bsana.org
Clothing: comfortable, come as you are!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Grab your food from 6:30pm and at 7pm, there will be a brief business update, voting Committee members in, a quick version of our annual “State of the Neighbourhood Address.” There will be a chance for you to voice your opinions – good or bad – about the neighbourhood and community events. Councillor Tony Page will be along to give us a quick update on “all things Reading” and field a question or two!
BSANA is generously funded by the People’s Health Trust, but we need your ideas on how best to spend funds to benefit our community and coming together as neighbours. This is the perfect chance to weigh in on ideas you have to improve activities and events that make a difference to our community. Therefore, we cannot stress this enough, it is vital that we see you there! So, please come join us and help us continue to be the best neighbourhood association in Reading!
Last but not least! We would like to invite you in honouring our neighbour, Mayor Mohammed Ayub, for a year of outstanding service to the town.
Are you motivated to do more? Be a committee member, or help run an event or two? Please drop a note to committee@bsana.org prior to the meeting as we have positions available and are looking for a Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, Green Streets Committee Chair and a Community Liaison Officer! By now, there’s no one in BSANA-ville that doesn’t know we’ve got loads of money to spend around here. As such, with that much money coming in, we have been legally advised to become a charity. We have therefore had to wordsmith our current constitution into a Charity Commission format – and we need to have a Special General Meeting to get the Constitution approved to submit to the Charities Commission.
Please come by for a short meeting (as there really is not too much to go over on the finer details of the Constitution itself) but your vote is essential! We’ll also have a brief catch up on the latest BSANA news whilst we’re there. See our Proposed Constitution for details.
Come enjoy tea and nibbles with your neighbours (free)!
